Keith led AMC four season mountain hiking trips in New England throughout the 1990s and became hooked on glaciers in 1999 during a guided ascent of MT BAKER.
He traveled to the Cascades every summer 2001 through 2008, organizing and leading multiple climbs of MT RAINIER, MT BAKER, MT ADAMS and MT HOOD and led two trips to Pico de Orizaba in Mexico. Keith developed the Summit Sensations Leadership Training Program and has taught it numerous times. He continues to serve as the director and an instructor for the club’s annual Glacier Travel Workshop.
He was the Director of the AMC NH Mountaineering and Glacier Travel Workshops for five years and taught winter backpacking and advanced winter wilderness travel for the AMC for ten years. He also served as the Education Chairman of the AMC, NH Chapter, for two years and a trip leader for twenty.
Keith is the originator of the “If I can do it, anyone can do it” principle of mountaineering education and enjoys introducing new climbers to the sport.
Keith currently lives in West Virginia and works for the Army Corps of Engineers. He is a founding member of Summit Sensation and served as President for the first eight years. He currently serves Summit Sensations as President Emeritus and advisor to the Board of Directors.
