An avid outdoorsman, Mike has been an active participant in outdoor adventures across New England and the United States for the past eight years. Mike is a four-season hiker and backpacker and a novice rock and ice climber. Introduced to SSMC through the club’s 2007 Mt. Rainier trip (Emmons Glacier route), Mike has taken part on SSMC expeditions as a participant or co-leader almost every summer since, summiting Mt. Baker in Washington state and tackling the high points of Idaho (Borah Peak), Nevada (Boundary Peak), and Utah (King Peak). Mike also has participated in ascents of Mt. Langley in California’s Eastern Sierra and Telescope Peak in Death Valley and a technical climb of Cathedral Peak in Yosemite National Park. He will lead his first trip for the club in July 2013: Mt. Rainier via the Disappointment Cleaver route. Mike also is a great lover of our nation’s National Park system, with Yellowstone and Yosemite National Parks being notable favorites.
A former newspaper reporter and a history buff, Mike today lives in Lowell, Mass. An attorney, he practices law in Boston. Mike is a member of the AMC New Hampshire chapter. When not in the mountains, he can usually be found running outside, strength training in the gym, with his head in a book or his nose in a pint of Guinness.
