Again, with about 20 participants this year, SSMC had another fun and intense workshop to prepare for this year’s expeditions (Rainier, Robson, & Glacier Peak). I hope everyone enjoyed the fresh, late-April snow and also perhaps learned a trick or two on how to avoid a crevasse fall or pluck someone from out of the depths of one. Climb hard, know your teammates, know your abilities…try to identify the known unknowns of your life and step into them…the sky is the only limit we have when it comes to those lofty spires in our dreams. As Howard said so adroitly, “if only I was one foot taller”, when his helmet brushed the thin air at 18,999′ on Cayambe.
