Doug was drawn to Summit Sensations after he joined several members on an adventurous new route up Mt. Lafayette following the annual meeting in November 2015. In addition to leading numerous ice and gully climbs in the White Mountains, Doug was a member of the successful Summit Sensations ascent of Mt. Rainier via the Kautz Glacier in 2018, and a co-leader of the Summit Sensations attempt of Mt. Shuksan via the Fisher Chimneys in 2019. He is also an instructor at the annual SSMC Glacier Travel Workshop.
When he is not seeking the freedom of the hills, Doug is a practicing Cardiologist at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester MA, and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Tufts Medical School in Boston where he specializes in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. As a physician, Doug has a personal interest in cardiovascular fitness and endurance training for athletes. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children, taking them with him on many mountain adventures.
